Presentations: educational outreach
I am no stranger to the classroom having been an educator for a number of years, including 8 years in Loudoun County! I hold a BFA from The Hartford Art School as well as my MFA/MAT from The Maryland Institute College of Art. I have been working as a commercial artist, fine artist, photographer and educator since 2002. I left teaching when I became a proud mother and during that time I focused on my commercial art and photography business working full time from my home studio. This also gave me time to play with the bees! Once my son began grade school I decided it was time to merge my three passions in life, Art, Pollinators, and Education, thus creating The Apiary Artist!
I give my Beek Geeks presentations to kids and adults in many settings, ranging from homeschool, classrooms, events, Boy & Girl Scouts, group and assisted living homes, colleges, businesses, and where ever else I find myself.
My Pollinator Presentations; Conversations & Creations Series are new for 2019! They have been designed to meet educational standards delivered through cross curricular instruction with art and pollinator awareness at their core! Art with interdisciplinary connections has proven over and over to produce more imaginative, creative and well-rounded children and adults! as you may know, creativity is an essential part of intelligence, and is often used as a gauge for measuring IQ. It is my aim to reach children and even adults utilizing creativity and interdisciplinary connections for bring pollinator awareness to the classroom and beyond!
I love art, bees, and educating! Through my passion and my presentations I hope to inspire Pollinator & Honey Bee Awareness!
